Traditional Experiences in Kyoto’s Kodaiji Area — Presented by CHICK Inc.

In Kyoto’s atmospheric Higashiyama–Kodaiji area, enjoy a journey that lets you touch the true essence of Japanese culture.
Cobblestone lanes and old townhouses line this district where a thousand years of history still breathe. Here, through kimono rental, matcha (tea) experience, and zazen meditation, you can immerse all five senses in Japanese tradition and aesthetics.

👘 Kimono Rental — Wear an Elegant “Extraordinary” (Kyoto Kimono Rental mimosa Kodaiji Main Store)

Slip into an authentic kimono and you’ll feel like the lead in a film.
Vivid kimono harmonize with Japanese gardens and stone-paved streets—perfectly photogenic. With professional dressing and optional hairstyling, even first-timers can enjoy traditional attire with peace of mind.
Gion and Kiyomizu-dera are within walking distance, enabling a “mobile cultural experience” as you explore iconic spots in elegant style.

🍵 Matcha Experience — Hospitality Savored in Stillness (Zen Temple)

Learn the manners of tea while whisking a bowl yourself.
More than a tasting, this experience is also a form of mindfulness that calms the spirit.
With explanations in English, you’ll gain deeper insight into the history and aesthetics of tea (concepts like wabi-sabi and ichigo-ichie). Premium Uji matcha paired with wagashi leaves an unforgettable impression.

🧘‍♂️ Zazen Meditation — A Spiritual Retreat from Busy Days (Zen Temple)

In a quiet Zen setting, place yourself in stillness and focus on breath and awareness.
This is not merely a religious activity, but an “inner journey.”
With support from local monks or guides, beginners can relax into the practice and experience the core of Zen mindfulness that has drawn attention in the West. A special time to forget the bustle of travel and calm your heart.

Why Is the “Kodaiji Area” Experience Special?

This area offers both tranquility away from crowds and the weight of history—Kyoto at its most authentic. While adjacent to popular Kiyomizu-dera and Gion, time flows more gently here, as if you’ve slipped into the past.
The experiences here are not simply “sightseeing,” but encounters with culture, spirit, and aesthetics.

For travelers from the West, it’s an ideal opportunity to gain a profound, immersive understanding of Japanese culture. Photogenic moments, intellectual curiosity, and soothing peace—Kyoto delivers them all.
