In Kyoto’s atmospheric Higashiyama–Kodaiji area, enjoy a journey that lets you touch the true essence of Japanese culture.
Cobblestone lanes and old townhouses line this district where a thousand years of history still breathe. Here, through kimono rental, matcha (tea) experience, and zazen meditation, you can immerse all five senses in Japanese tradition and aesthetics.
Slip into an authentic kimono and you’ll feel like the lead in a film.
Vivid kimono harmonize with Japanese gardens and stone-paved streets—perfectly photogenic. With professional dressing and optional hairstyling, even first-timers can enjoy traditional attire with peace of mind.
Gion and Kiyomizu-dera are within walking distance, enabling a “mobile cultural experience” as you explore iconic spots in elegant style.
Learn the manners of tea while whisking a bowl yourself.
More than a tasting, this experience is also a form of mindfulness that calms the spirit.
With explanations in English, you’ll gain deeper insight into the history and aesthetics of tea (concepts like wabi-sabi and ichigo-ichie). Premium Uji matcha paired with wagashi leaves an unforgettable impression.
In a quiet Zen setting, place yourself in stillness and focus on breath and awareness.
This is not merely a religious activity, but an “inner journey.”
With support from local monks or guides, beginners can relax into the practice and experience the core of Zen mindfulness that has drawn attention in the West. A special time to forget the bustle of travel and calm your heart.
This area offers both tranquility away from crowds and the weight of history—Kyoto at its most authentic. While adjacent to popular Kiyomizu-dera and Gion, time flows more gently here, as if you’ve slipped into the past.
The experiences here are not simply “sightseeing,” but encounters with culture, spirit, and aesthetics.
For travelers from the West, it’s an ideal opportunity to gain a profound, immersive understanding of Japanese culture. Photogenic moments, intellectual curiosity, and soothing peace—Kyoto delivers them all.

Kodaiji Temple, founded by Nene (Kitano Mandokoro), wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, preserves the grandeur of the Momoyama period. Its buildings and gardens, designated as National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties, speak of over 400 years of history.
Higashiyama captivates in every season—cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green maples in summer, autumn foliage, and winter snowscapes. Bamboo groves and stone paths condense traditional Japanese beauty into a stroll-worthy landscape.
Surrounded by Kyoto icons like Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka Shrine, and Gion, the Kodaiji area invites leisurely walks along rows of traditional townhouses on cobbled streets.
A charming stone-paved slope leading toward Yasaka Pagoda, Ninenzaka is part of the approach to Kiyomizu-dera and is designated a Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Simply walking here evokes the ambiance of the old capital.
This five-story pagoda (officially Hokan-ji) rises over the Higashiyama skyline at 46 meters. Unusually for a five-story pagoda, interior visits are possible; climb the historic stairs and take in Kyoto from its windows.
Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO World Heritage site in eastern Kyoto, is famed for its wooden main hall “stage” overlooking seasonal vistas—cherry blossoms in spring and crimson leaves in autumn. At Otowa Falls, you can drink from three streams, each with a different blessing. A must-see spot where history meets nature.
